Partnerships & Work Programs

Partnering with College of the Redwoods, CalPoly Humboldt Internship Program and SWAP, Humboldt Botanical Garden staff and volunteers bring individuals to the garden eager to learn gardening skills. Workers from the program receive education and experience in horticulture, the plant nursery business, teamwork, garden maintenance, self-confidence and more. If an individual is a good worker and learner, HBGF Supervisors put out the word and try to find them a job related to their training.

The Garden also partners with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Work Alternative Program (SWAP) for which the Garden is highly appreciative of the extra hands performing the many hours of needed maintenance in the Garden.
