Classes, Workshops & Lectures

The Humboldt Botanical Garden Education Series Committee schedules classes featuring local, national and international experts to present topics ranging from worm farming to flower photography, bats to mushrooms, Cal Poly Humboldt’s 3-D Herbarium to apple pruning. There will be classroom programs, walks through Humboldt Botanical Gardens, hands-on propagation and plant care classes. Classes on preserving the abundance of Humboldt County’s home gardeners and farmers’ markets in partnership with the UC Master Food Preservers. UC Master Gardeners will hold demonstrations and workshops of interest to the community. 

Classes are usually held on Saturdays at the Garden or a College of the Redwoods classroom and are free for members, general admission for non-members.

Monthly Bird Walk with Dan Greaney

Join our local bird enthusiast and expert guide Dan Greaney on the third Thursday of every month for a Morning Bird Walk of the forested trails and gardens at Humboldt Botanical Garden.
Dan is a retired teacher and book author of Bird Words from Blue Oak Country, a series of essays reflecting on the ways and wiles of birds. 
He leads monthly walks at HBG and for the Redwood Region Audubon Society around Arcata Marsh.
